Tips on Reviewing a Practice Test

After completing a practice LSAT (either 4 sections in one sitting or 5 sections w/ a 10 minute break), what are some good tips on reviewing it?

Generally, after scoring it, I will

1. Scan through each section briefly, marking questions for review that I answered correctly but did was not certain.
2. Redo the questions I missed (w/o solutions or answer key), to figure out what I did wrong.
3. Go over the sections one by one again, paying special attention to the questions I missed (figuring out WHY I missed them, how to avoid missing them again), and also going over the questions I wasn't certain about, trying to figure out why I was not certain during the test.
4. Redo the games section two days later (I photocophy the games before I complete the PT), aiming for completion with 100% accuracy in 30 minutes or less. Sometimes I'll do these as a fifth experimental section.

Generally steps 1-3 take about 3-4 hours total, sometimes less. I normally do the review in one sitting. The PT is of course always completed under timed conditions, no getting up, no drinks, etc.

Please let me know if you can add to this, or provide additional insight that has helped you to maximize the productivity our of your review session.

Thank You!

3-4 hours to review a 3 hour test seems like a very long time, but do whatever you need to do I suppose.

This methodology seems thorough, the only thing that I could suggest is that you keep track of the question types that you got wrong/found difficult. That way you could firmly establish what types of questions you are having trouble with and then focus on those types of questions specifically in between taking practice tests.

Thanks for input. Keeping track of the question types is something I'm going to start doing more. 3-4 hours is the time right now, as I focus on dissecting the material, questions, etc. Sometimes, a review will only take a couple hours. Usually it's the little details that I'm focusing on now, as I normally score 168+ on the timed PT. I'll often refer back to the Bibles to pick up little details I overlooked, and think about how I can apply what I've learned to future questions. I'm aiming for 170+ on test day.

You seem to have a pretty effective system, however I do have one caveat. You need to step away from the material for at least a few hours, preferably until the next day, in order to fully maximize a PT review session. I take the PT, tally the score and then put it away until it is time for a thorough review the next day. It's very important to allow time for your brain to switch from "testing" to "review" mode in order to get the most out of PT's.
