That chapter is really useful especially for some of the more difficult must-be-true and justify questions you'll see. I would read it.

Yeah for the most part their diagramming is helpful for those who need more familiarity with formal logic. After a while, though, you'll be able to internalize most of the stuff so you won't necessarily need to diagram on every formal logic question. But I would recommend following their style when you first start out.

The Bible could be cut in half and you'd still retain probably the same elements otherwise. I'd say learn the "some" rule as well the proper way to link the formal logic words and be done with it.
