I took the June 2010 LSAT and was going to re-take the Oct 2010 LSAT.

Recently I received some academic fee waivers at schools that I would be happy to attend. I am contemplating canceling my Oct LSAT.

When is the last date I can cancel my Oct 2010 LSAT and still receive a partial refund?

Fee waivers mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Schools give them out to encourage people to apply to make their stats look more selectie. If you think these fee waivers mean you will get in you are mistaken. If you don't have the stats for the schools you want to attend you still need to retake.

Thanks for the response. According to stats, my numbers are within their accepted range. But thanks for looking out for me!

When is the last date I can cancel? Might or might not cancel. Still deciding. But knowing that date can give me a rough guideline to track my progress.

According to my LSAC account I think it is 9/19

The last day to unregister for the October LSAT is September 17th. It has to be in writing and stamped no later than September 17th.

This had to be emphasized again. Plenty of people get fee waivers then don't get accepted.

If you are above 75th percentile for the school you want to get into I don't think you need to take the LSAT again.

But don't look at fee waivers as anything.

I'm not sure what this means, and I'm not sure why in the hell fee waivers would change your mind about re-taking the LSAT. If "within their accepted range" means the only thing that makes you a safe admit (that your numbers were already above 75th percentile in both LSAT and GPA) then why would fee waivers change anything? Furthermore, if before you the fee waivers came in you felt so strongly that you could improve your LSAT score that you registered for the October test, what's changed???

Everything about this confuses me.

Regardless of the unclear justification OP used for deciding not to retake - I have been trying to decide the same thing and am unclear - is Sept 17th the last day to unregister (without it being counted as a cancellation) or just the last day to get a refund. If the latter what is the last day to avoid a cancellation?

If you "cancel your registration," it does not show up on score reports as a cancellation. The "cancellation" I think you're referring to here is only possible if you show up for the actual exam and then call/e-mail/fill in the ovals during the test indicating that you wish to cancel your score. If you simply do nothing and don't show up, then it will count as an "absence."
