ok i get it ... A hits the "support" for existing memories... This subtle shifts in language thing sucks. Processed, Re interpreted, support - these words are almost identical in meaning in this context. I guess when they say "which of these is mentioned in the passage" they want exact definitions.

What they're doing in D is taking language from the passage and twisting it. D says, "They are reinterpreted so as to be compatible with details already stored in memory," which implies that they were originally incompatible. But the passage says, "...if subtly introduced new data involving remembered events do not actively conflict with our stored memory, we tend to process such new data similarly..."

A is straight from the horse's mouth. Passage: "[W]e often retain new data as a reinforcement of the corresponding aspect of the memory..." Answer: "[New data] are integrated with current memories as support for those memories."
