PT 25 June 98 : Section 3 #21

Post by JJDancer » Tue Aug 24, 2010 9:45 pm

I think I'm having a brain spazz moment because I can't figure out how G would go 4th
wouldn't that throw off the ballad, dance, ballad, dance... thing?
or mess up SF/FS ?

Can anyone explain please?

Thanks!

I think you're just thinking backwards. There are 7 songs, 3 ballads and 4 dances. Since no dance tune can come after another, they must be spread out among 1,3,5,7. Since G is a ballad, its the only variable among the answer choices that can go in spot 4.

Don't you hate games?

D'oh!

Thanks - didn't think to notice it was the only ballad in the answer choices!
PS - I was thinking backwards because I was trying to figure out how G worked. Can you tell me what the hypothetical would be with G in 4th?

And actually I don't hate games at all.

I think the rule for G is

RFS -> G > R

In other words, there must be an RFS block unless G comes before R. In other words, at least one of those two conditions must occur, or both.

As for your hypothetical,

X H V G S F R
