LSAT Scores - Practice vs. Actual

Post by Adjudicator » Thu Aug 19, 2010 6:23 pm

I'm interested to see what peoples' experiences are. How different was your actual LSAT score from what you were averaging in practice on full-length, timed practice tests?

This has been discussed many times. The general consensus is that it is extremely common to drop 2-3 points or more from your PT average, and that most people experience at least some form of this test day drop. As for me, I dropped 5 points from my PT average on the real deal :x.

Any theory as to the cause of this?

I dropped one point from my PT norm - I took six tests, 5=159, 1=165.

I was hoping for something closer to the aberration. My initial PT's this time around started at 164, which is better.

Well one must keep in mind that this is TOP law schools.com, that typically means that they have high scores. High scores = every question is a point but the lower the scaled score the more variance it takes to make such a difference.

So you got a 159 on the real thing?

How many PTs did you take before? I feel a lot more confident then when I took my first LSAT (the real deal) cold. I feel that if you do 20+ PTs with experimentals, in timed conditions you can probably count on getting pretty close to you average. I'm just saying if you never get below a 160 in the majority of all of those timed tests I don't see how you can freak out sooooo badly to be even -5 from that average.
