June 27th LSAT

Postby hemm » Tue Jun 08, 2010 9:31 am

Any other TLS members taking the June 27th LSAT? I'll be taking it in Korea. The main June LSAT thread is all about the June 7th LSAT so I figured I wouldn't clutter it up and start my own progress thread for these last few weeks.

Also, I am really NOT looking forward to that anxiety that seems common after the test...

I just wrote yesterday. Is the Asian administration a different test? It seems like it either has to be or it means that us June 7th test takers won't get our scores back until the 27th, when you take the exam, because we might leak info to test takers in Asia.

It's a different test. LSAC is aware of the interwebz - and the wonders of the mechanical birds we call planes.

Good to know I won't be the only one who will be doing so on here. I'm also taking it in korea on the 27th.

Yep, it's at Yonsei.

I'll be taking it at Temple University in Japan. Right now, I'm plateauing at around 166 on PTs. =( On most tests, I get -1 or -0 in games.

There's not much time, so I have to figure out what I'm doing wrong in LR and RC.

Anyone else taking it in Japan?

Good luck Hemm! I'm rooting for you. One bit of advice I would give you, after having take the test, is to give yourself 32 minutes or so on your PT sections. On test day time is flying and your adrenaline is pumping, and the time flies by so quickly!

So how does that work? The test is completely different? And when the June test is disclosed, what about our version of the test? Is it just sort of... forgotten?

Apparently, our test is undisclosed. Or so I hear.

I feel your pain, yurishima. I'm coming from Fukuyama.

Thanks man! I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Don't stress out for 3 weeks!

Yeah, I've been tapering down my section time - this week I'm doing 32 minutes per section, next week 31, and the week before the test 30 minutes. Hopefully the real thing won't feel rushed!

Yes, it's completely different.

Your version is undisclosed. That's not especially fair to you, but that's just how it is.

PT53: 97 / 179. -2 LR, -1 RC, -0 LG, plus LG from PT41: -1

Come on! One off from another 180 - I (incorrectly) changed an answer in RC right as time wound down. Gotta go with my first instinct I guess... Missed one on the circular mapping game on PT41 too. That thing really annoyed me.

And yeah, our test is undisclosed - we'll never know which questions we missed. I don't know I'm going to deal with that

Anyone else still studying?

PT54: 99 / 180. -1 LR, -1 RC, -0 LG, exp. from PT41: -1 LR

Exactly 2 weeks left...

I just took PT 54. 88/167 -8 LR -5 RC -0 LG.

RC is driving me insane. Can't break 167. =(

I will be writing it on 27th June as well in NEW DELHI, India.

Stuck in 160's... aim is to get around 165 for a good Canadian University..
Still have to start Timing myself ...Moving at Snail Speed... :(
Best of luck..

There's not that much time left now. I just finished yet another preptest today. I seem to be stuck in the early 170's. Can anyone share any tips for sitting more comfortably in the mid to high 170's? I hope to make up for the possible score dip on test day. FWIW I seem to always get a few wrong in LG. Should I just drill them more and work on finishing them faster before test day arrives? Thank you in advance!

PT55: 96 / 177. -2 LR, -1 RC, -1 LG, PT41: -0 RC

Finished PT41 as my last 4 experimental sections: 99 / 180. -1 LR, -1 LG, -0 RC

Encountered the infamous talk-story passage....I want to meet the person that wrote the cotton fiber analogy question. Had some difficulty with LG on this one and ended up having to make a bunch of hypos. The last game was really weird and I never got a great handle on it - it's people on a bus getting off at various stops.

4 more!

edinbourgh, do you recognize any pattern to the questions you're missing?

I realize this is a different test from the one given in the US and after some research it seems that you guys get only 4 sections (no experimental). In some sections, rather than getting 5 answer options, you only get 4....is this true?

Steve, it seems that they get a easier version of the test we get in the US. Can they use this for US law schools? And if so, are their scores judged differently from ours?

LSAT-India is a test for admission to law schools in India. In India, as well as in most of the world, law school is an undergraduate program. Basically, the people taking LSAT-India haven't gone to college yet. This is likely the reason that there is no experimental section and that there are only 4 choices on most sections of LSAT-India.

The 6/27 LSAT is the same format as the one that North Americans take. 5 choices per question, experimental section, etc. There's no reason to believe it's any easier or harder than the one administered in North America.

Given that Navi786 is taking it on June 27, I don't believe that he or she is taking the LSAT-India, despite taking the LSAT in India (there's an important distinction there), unless he or she is simultaneously applying to undergraduate-level law programs and graduate-level law programs.

Advice: Don't get any wrong in LG. Seriously. If you want a mid to high 170s score, then this is step #1. You're plan sounds good. Drill LG sections until you feel comfortable hitting -0 every time. Try to speed up too so if you encounter a hard Q on the test, you won't be too rushed. There's not much other advice once you get into the 170s. It's all about limiting mistakes, but finding a high 170s test taker with LG mistakes is rare. It's the one section where the answer is absolutely definite.

Less than two weeks left. I'm average -6 to -10 in LR and -5 in RC. Which do I attempt to drill? Or do I just give up on drilling and stick to PTs?

mottainai, I think with this little time left you should be doing timed PTs. If you have time you could drill sections on days you don't take PTs.

PT56: 97 / 179. -0 LR, -0 LG, -3 RC. + June 07 as exp: -0 LG

RC wtf! Missed all 3 on the same passage, something about kin recognition and natural selection. That was one of the hardest passages for me definitely. Overall I felt it was a difficult PT. I took the LG from June 07 right before the actual LG from 56 so that didn't exactly put me in a good mood for the rest of the test...thought I bombed June 07's LG, but I guess not.
