A few 110 get a 180 out of 120,000... Wrong. On average 40,000 test takers each test. Each time an average of 6-10 people get a 180. But people on LSN and TLS lie about their score, so we thing 170' and even 180's are the norm. I on the other hand know that this is very untrue, and when i score above 170 on a PT im extremely happy.

Do you have a source for that?jt1341 wrote:A few 110 get a 180 out of 120,000... Wrong. On average 40,000 test takers each test. Each time an average of 6-10 people get a 180. I second that request.d34dluk3 wrote:Do you have a source for that?jt1341 wrote:A few 110 get a 180 out of 120,000... Wrong. On average 40,000 test takers each test. 1) I think your numbers are off
2) Did you just decide people lie about the score or do you have some reason to say that? 170 is a great score and you should be happy. But it doesn't mean that people that do better than you are lying.

The fact that 200-400+ kids get into each top law school with median lsats around 170/3 speaks to the fact that, while it may not be the norm considering the entire population, there are a good amount of individuals that score well.BrightLine wrote:I second that request.d34dluk3 wrote:Do you have a source for that?jt1341 wrote:A few 110 get a 180 out of 120,000... Anyway 169 is the minimum for me, probabilities look poor at Michigan below that. Though I believe I can get into the low/mid-170s

Re: What score do you desire for June 2010 LSAT?
Hmm i will find the source, yes i have seen it posted by LSAC, or something associated with LSAC maybe it was skewed but it looked like it made reasonable sense with the % of people and scores. I will do my best to locate it and post it. There of course are many people scoring much higher then a 170-172,it is only about 2-3 percent of test takers which means about 800 people per test. And the majority of those 800 are closer to the 172 mark then the 180 mark. Its how a curved test works.
No data for those numbers but about 40,000 people take each test. 170 is about the 98th percentile. Do the math. Not that hard

This document has a percentile distribution on pg. 7. It has both 179 and 180 at 99.9%, which means that out of 50,000, 50 get a 179 or 180. If you linearly regress the distribution, 180 would be at 99.95%, which means 25 people per test get a 180. Still not numerous, but not 6-8 either.jt1341 wrote:Hmm i will find the source, yes i have seen it posted by LSAC, or something associated with LSAC maybe it was skewed but it looked like it made reasonable sense with the % of people and scores. Given 150,000 test takers for the cycle, each cycle has ~75 people with 179s and the same with 180s.

PT's are around 178, but I'll be happy with 175+.

174-177 is where I would be really happy about my score. I already have a 170 in the bank so I'm really shooting for 173+. I wouldn't say no to a 178-180 though

Re: What score do you desire for June 2010 LSAT?
After my first attempt, I've been averaging around a 175 (going as low as 172 and as high as 180, but 175 has been my mean, median, and mode). So now my test day goal is 177. Not that I'd retake if I got a 175 or anything, but I will be really pleased with a 177. Saturday I got my first perfect score (though not perfect test, I was still -2 questions), and that was on last June's exam, so I know I am capable of getting that, but test day will probably be fairly different from on-my-porch-knowing-it-doesn't-matter. So. Short answer: 177.
I'm somewhat of a splitter (GPA is 3.5ish), so it's very important for me to do well next Monday.

173 would be ideal. 170+ is what I need. If I don't score at least a 170, then I will most likely retake in October.

Re: What score do you desire for June 2010 LSAT?
180.
My grades were bad enough to put me on probation freshman year...however, I'll be a-ok if I can get into Fordham.
I've went up from a 171 average to a 175 average on PT's.. have a week left (need to stop getting stuff in LR wrong- the other two sections are fine), however, taking the LSAT in the Long Island Marriott Hotel is probably going to be a remarkably different experience from taking it in my room or at the public library.

Re: What score do you desire for June 2010 LSAT?
I desire a 170-173 (being realistic... not being realistic, I want a 185)
I'd be thrilled with anything over a 167.
I'd retake 166 and below.

175 is my "realistic" goal, I won't be pissed with 173-174, and at least have the latent goal of a 180.

Re: What score do you desire for June 2010 LSAT?
My goal is 180 and I'll be ok with anything 175+. My GPA was lowish, so I need the LSAT to balance that. PT average is right between 178-179 but this past week I've kind of fallen off studying so we'll see what happens.

Re: What score do you desire for June 2010 LSAT?
I guess like everyone else I "desire" a 180.
That said, my realistic dream is 175+, which would give me good shot at YHS (gpa = 3.89), I'll only retake if I go below 169, which is what I would need to get good $$$ at wustl (good school in the hometown). I'm averaging 175 on PT's (high of 179, low of 169) so I think expectations are reasonably healthy/realistic.

160+ would make me as giddy as a school girl. I know that it isn't in the 170's like a lot of people on TLS, but I've worked my tail off like everyone else to get from my initial diag to PTing in the 158-162 range. Here's to a little good luck for everyone on test day.

Call me insane, but I'm planning to retake a 173 or anything lower. Based on my practice tests, I know I have a 175 or 176 in me.

Realistically -- 163 would thrill me and get me in to some good schools in my area. If I dip below 160 I'll retake in October.

Re: What score do you desire for June 2010 LSAT?
I picked 177-180 only because I hit 176 and 177 on two of the newer ones and would love to duplicate that on test day...
But I just want to do my best!!!!!!!!!
