Two weeks left, what do I do?

Postby emoney8907 » Mon May 24, 2010 3:30 pm

I signed up for the June test with the goal of a 170+ after studying for a month.
With two weeks left, my PT scores are in the mid 160s with a low of 161 and a high of 168.
My problems come from LR and RC, LG is always fine (-1 at the most).
The thing is that when I see what I get wrong, I understand 85% of why I got a certain question wrong, hoping that's a good sign that quick improvement is feasible. But I take a PT the next day and still get the still number of questions wrong, despite being able to fully understand why as soon as I check my answers. So it's not like the questions i get wrong i have no idea what the question meant or why i got it wrong - I just get them wrong when I take the tests.
But time is running out and a 170 seems less and less feasible day by day.
Which leaves me with a few options. I am hoping people on this forum can help me out.
I have enough 8 PTs left for the remaining two weeks. I also have Powerscore books that I only halfway read.

Do I:
1) Study with what I have for the remaining two weeks, and if I still feel unprepared by then, cancel my test the night before, and take it in October after more preparation?
2) Study with what I have for the remaining two weeks, and if I still feel unprepared by then, don't show up on the day of the test, and take it in October?
3) Study for remaining two weeks, just take the test, and then cancel if it doesn't feel good?
4) Study for remaining two weeks, just take the test, see my score, and if it's not 170, retake in October?
5) Any other options you may recommend?

My goal is to get into U of Michigan law school, with a dream of Columbia or NYU, I have a 3.9 GPA, so just need the LSAT to be there.
Given how law schools know about/judge you with respect to no-shows, cancellations, or retakes, which option should I pursue?

Thanks to all in advance.

#4 - don't go in with the expectation of canceling but have it in the back of your mind. if you have to retake, having experience with test day conditions will be an asset on your 2nd time around. good luck!

study over the summer then take it in October..

if your not practicing 170+ two weeks before, then you have very little chance of scoring a 170. usually ur score will be 4-6 points less than what you are practicing at..

with a full summer getting acquainted with all the sections and possible question types, you can certainly gain an extra 5 points from what you would have scored in June, and with a 3.9 u'll have a good shot at your dream schools.
