3rd lsat after acceptances

So I've been accepted to a t30 at sticker, and am currently on several waitlists. Both of my scores are in the low 160s, and I'm thinking about taking the lsat again in June. Could I use that test administration to try to move off those waitlists? Furthermore, considering both of my scores are near each other, if I score near 170 would it hurt since I have taken two previous lsats? If I do well enough, I'm thinking about reapplying. Looking for some advice.

Yes you can use it for waitlists.

It might hurt you at some schools, but others won't care at all. Either way 16x 16x 170 >> 16x 16x

I would be cautious about re-applying, but I don't see how it could hurt you at the schools you are waitlisted at. No school is going to ding you for submitting a higher 3rd LSAT! And I assume that in the event you score the same 16_, the waitlisted schools will never have to know about it.

Care to elaborate on 'it might hurt you at some schools'?

I'm also considering doing this and have yet to find any concrete evidence of any negatives to this strategy. The only thing I've come up with is that if you are trying to get off a waitlist and score lower - say you end up with something like a 161, 166 and now a 160 - you might hurt your chances because now your 166 may be given less weight.

One of the main reasons I am considering re-taking is because I guessed on a substantial number of questions during the previous administration. I believe I can increase my score, and I have a tutor to help as well. How cautious should I be about reapplying? If I score around a 168, I was thinking of reapplying.

Harvard and NYU are the only ones I think actually care.

If you think you do really bad cancel. Schools mostly care about the number, not that its accurate.
