The correct choice is (A) but doesn't (A) weaken the argument? We are looking for exceptions.

The issue with (A) is that just because *some* ecosystems have developed mechanisms to *reduce* negative effects of acid rain doesn't do much to show that a reduction in acid rain levels *overall* wouldn't reduce the *overall* negative effects *further*...
