I'm in. Just rescheduled my test from June till October - 3rd time taker (142,165)... Still trying to find some way of regaining my pride after the 142... Just started studying again May 3rd. I am using Kaplan Mastery Book, LG Bible, LR Bible, every prep test, and I am open to any other suggestions. Good luck everyone!

14 minutes is fine my friend. You will get faster with practice, months and hours of it.

anyone prepping in the mid to high 160s range and still considering october?

i got a month left to decide whether to take the international june and ive been PTing in the higher 160s
but i still feel like i could prepare myself more cuz ive also gotten scores that are erratic as hell...got more PTs
also. I also never drilled question types..which i may want to do

dont know if im making the right decision by postponing.

anyone else?!

its also reading thats destroying the crap out of me..im thinkin maybe i can go into hyper focus mode on test day and pull RC off well...or is it the opposite that happens?

I'm gonna throw my hat into the ring as well.

Just took the JUne 2007 Test cold, scored a 150. Finished each section with about 5 minutes to spare.

I have both of the PowerScore bibles, and all of the prep test except for the hard to find ones.

Here we go...

I'm planning on taking the October LSAT as well. Needless to say, I'm extremely nervous. I haven't started studying quite yet. I'm ordering the powerscore bibles and LSAC official preptests! Good luck to everyone!! :D

I was registered to take the June LSAT, but I am not where I need to be.

October I will be ready...it's crazy after knowing I have more time to prepare I have actually significantly improved on LR...I don't know where it came from!

WOO HOO!

I am going to get a private tutor for LG sometime in July.

For those of you that are following a self-study method, how are you approaching your prep?
IE: Each game type in the LGB and then practice problems by that game type or just going through the LGB and attacking games as a whole?

Dammit, I can't believe I'm back here. I'm a Sept '09 first-time taker and scored a 163 with about 1 whole month of study (I'm an idiot who said on Sept 1 "I want to go to law school!"). I wasn't thrilled with that score, but I really couldn't complain due to the lack of study. I've debated whether or not to retake this test and put my life on hold to truly devote myself to the joy of LSAT study. I think I've resigned myself to studying like hell for the October test and if my prep scores aren't in the 170s then I'm not taking it again. A 163 isn't the best score, but I feel it'll be sufficient for the schools I want to apply to. I just want a higher score so I get the best offer possible.

Personally I'm doing the LGB first, as LG was my worst section, and then I'm going to do preptest after preptest after preptest....ad nauseam. ;)

That said, ConsideringLawSchool posted a study guide for people aiming to achieve a 170/175+ on the LSAT here:

I'm in the same boat as everyone here, my timed diagnostic was at 153 on sunday, I took my second timed PT today scored a 159. Hopefully, I can break into the 170's by October. We got 5 months to do it!

We definetly can. I know people on here say that taking a billion practice tests is the key, I didn't believe it at first. But I saw a 6 point improvement after taking just one PT, you really do begin to LEARN HOW TO TAKE THE TEST and begin to see the answers before the questions are asked.

I'm in for October, too.

I started studying last night. I am beginning with Get Prepped!'s Ace the LSAT Logic Games along with Daniel Bonevac's Simple Logic and W.V.O. Quine's Elementary Logic. Then it will be on to LG and LR Bibles. Only after I get through all of these will I start taking LSAT practice tests, beginning with #31.

Good luck, everyone!

I've been reading a logic book and I've gone through most of the linear section of the LGB in the past 2-3 days. I did some of the drills...It takes me a long time but I'm slowly understanding the difference concpets and their application.

I am planning on starting today. I purchased "10 Actual Official LSAT PrepTests" and the PowerScore LG and LR bibles. Based on what I read over on lsatblog.blogspot.com it sounds like I bought the wrong PrepTests book so I plan on going back and ordering the next 2 today. And it sounds like most here recommend buying the more recent tests individually, so I guess I'll go ahead and do that, too. I plan on following the 5 month study schedule pretty closely, that will be a huge asset for me because my study skills have always been very, very bad. This thread should be a big help, too.

Thought I'd post on here -- I live in the Boston area and have quite a few LSAT books that I'd like to sell before moving to law school this summer. I have three of the "10 Real LSAT tests" books, and a number of others, mostly Princeton Review or Kaplan. If you live nearby and have any interest, send me a PM and I can give you details of exactly what I have (I'm at work and don't have them with me now). Thanks!!!

Joining this thread - hopefully not too late to the party.

I'm also studying for the October exam date. I'm halfway through a Kaplan course at the moment, and I've not been impressed. Studying LR and LG Bibles on the side, which have been far better. Kaplan's LG setups seem okay, but I've not been impressed with their LR instruction. I'm working hard and doing beyond their minimum requirements, starting to get down on the lack of movement.

Has anyone else taken Kaplan and been super disappointed? I'm considering signing up for BP-movie or PS-virtual.

Diag was a 162, so I hope 170+ is attainable... I haven't seen much improvement in the practice LR sections I've done (still consistently 4-6 wrong, and I want to halve this before I begin running through PTs). Feeling pressured because my ugpa was 3.90 at one of the public ivies, so T14 is theoretically attainable with the right score.

Encouragement/Insight appreciated!

Get ready for a banal response to the question of whether or not the Kaplan course is impressive. It's not. What it does do is provide you with a lot of resources, some good, some bad, for preparing for the test. http://lsatblog.blogspot.com/ <- good study book suggestions, et. all.

I really can't say much in the way of personal experience (I haven't taken a prep course), but I can say that while I've been reading through the threads here the reviews of Kaplan haven't been particularly favorable. From what I've gathered, it seems like the course is good for bringing people up to the 160s, but not so great for bringing people up to the 170s.
