After scoring a few 161s and having gotten nothing higher than a 165, I took preptest 52 today (after taking a few days off from prep) and scored a 170. Hopefully preptest 52 isn't especially easy; I was pretty psyched about my score. The Gentleman wrote:
Similar situation here. Just scored a 178 (-3) on PT 52. By far my highest score to date. (previous high was 174, avg was 171) All three misses were on RC.
Anyone else have a uncharacteristic score boost on 52?

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Just wondering what you guys think about PT 36? Is it a particularly easy test? I had not been getting over 164 until I got a 166 on that test! I was really happy but hope it wasn't the easiest test out there...
Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I just took June 2007. That was the harshest curve ever. -11 = 167? Please.
On the other hand, am I the only person who is running out of tests to do in the 50's and is trying to figure out what to do for the next 20 days?

Hehe that's gotta be a tough one. I planned out my PT schedule exactly. I still have 51-56, 59-60 left, PLUS June '07. So that's 9 over the next 19 days...curryinaninstant wrote:I just took June 2007. That was the harshest curve ever. -11 = 167? Please.

I would suggest taking longer to review? Or do the SOS method, that's always getting use of each test twice.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
started taking prep test 55 today. Scored a -5 on section 1, then stopped due to illness. ( bad salmon from last night still killing me)
only have 4 full tests left that I havent seen any questions yet.( not counting prep test 55, since its 1/5 done- will become my exp sections for the rest of the tests).
I have noticed that im starting to develop a care less attitude about taking prep tests. I find myself not caring as much, since i know its only practice, and not the real thing. should I take a few days off and enjoy life, then get back ( i have another wedding to go to this weekend) to the nitty gritty on sunday. ( im thinking about taking friday and saturday off from all study, and doing timed sections, and parallel the flaw, rc work this week) and not do a prep test this week? Or would that be too detrimental to my performance ( my performance has plateaued )?

Take a few days off. At least it might indicate you might over perform on the actual test since you'll concentrate harder!

I know I should, and i tried to take today off, but i felt guilty about not doing anything with the test being so close.

I actually began to get burnt out as I had been studying vigorously for the last few months. So I took a week off and felt the same guilt as you. But that guilt really translated well when I sat back down to take preptest. I got a 9 point increase over my last PT. The guilt helps you And to make the guilt feel less worse, get REALLY drunk when youre not planning on studying the next day.

I haven't taken a PT since last Wednesday (176 on PT 53). I'm kind of nervous to take one tomorrow, especially because I'll be on cold meds and feeling like shit, if how I feel right now is any indication.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Same sort of guilt cycle happening for me on this end.
Was in a real good run of 175-180's, then today I forced myself to take another practice test out of guilt (was a bit hungover from family bbq the night before) and I scored a blasted 170. Concentration is everything for me, and the main factor in a ten point range. Crikey! I'm going to take it easy this week and see if I can get my head on straight for another practice test on friday.
Meanwhile, I'm eating mochi and watching "New Street Law" on hulu. Thank god for bbc shows about barristers, their wigs make me feel a little bit better about my life

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Just took PT 50. can't believe I'm in the 50's. Only a few left. (I've taken all from 19-50, but not all were timed or in one sitting.) Craziness
PT 50:
RC -4, LG (exp) -1, LR -2, LG -0, LR -1.
93 raw/173 scaled
It's nice to be scoring in the 170's pretty regularly. It's also wonderful to not really worry about LG anymore, since they used to be my worst section.
The bad part is that I feel like a character from Aesop's. My goal for this retake was a 170...but now I'm breaking it consistently, and I'm thinking a 175 would be so nice... >_<
I'm studying IRL with someone who has a goal of 165. She thinks I'm awesome, so that's nice and reassuring. This thread can be a little crazy (in a crazy good kind of way).

Wow, 47: 175, 48: 179. -0 LG.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I didn't take a PT this weekend, and I reviewed the LRB instead. PTs 51-59 left to go. I haven't decided if I'm going to retake PT60 yet or not?
I am also worried about getting sick! I just constantly wash my hands, drink a lot (water! but that could change, haha), try to get 8 hours of sleep, etc. Unfortunately, my husband is working the ER this month. I hope the flu stays out of Illinois a little longer because I do not like the added risk of bringing that home...
Good luck all in the last stretch!

PT 53 for me tonight. I thought I had already taken PT 53, but it turns out June 2007 doesn't have a PT # even though it comes right after December 2006 (PT 52).
I just realized I only have 7 PTs left: 46, 47, 48, 53, 58, 59 and 60. ZOMG!!

Yeah I only have 5 PTs left I think. I may start doing some older ones or redoing some of the 50s that I took 2-3 months ago.3|ink wrote:PT 53 for me tonight. I thought I had already taken PT 53, but it turns out June 2007 doesn't have a PT # even though it comes right after December 2006 (PT 52).

I'd have to concur. I had no trouble with 49's games. If you find any games section unusually difficult, it is probably because you haven't had enough exposure to at least one of those game types.Sandro777 wrote:Dont think so. Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I took June 2007 today as well. I did well on this test only to have the curve screw me. 79 raw, 159 scaled. I thought a 79 wouldve gotten me a 162, but nope. Ugh. Such a great performance on LR 2, -2! Nice!curryinaninstant wrote:I just took June 2007. That was the harshest curve ever. -11 = 167? Please.
On the other hand, am I the only person who is running out of tests to do in the 50's and is trying to figure out what to do for the next 20 days?
Im having issues with RC timing though. Ive been averaging roughly 20 correct on RC mainly because I dont have enough time for the last passage. Ive been doing the passages with the most questions first in an effort to come away with the most points. I figure that if the last passage only has 5 questions and I get at least 2 of those correct, providing I did well on the other 3 sections, I can come away with at least 20 correct. This has been the case, but I want to get more correct. Im not a notetaker, but I may have to tinker around with this. I find that I go back to the passage wayy to many times. The way things are right now Im doing each RC section in 10, 10, 10 and 5. Also, because I know Ill have less time for the last section I tend to rush through the second to last passage and this costs me points sometimes. I have to read more efficiently.
In any case, today's raw score was nice and it sets the tone for whats going to be a good couple of weeks.

Fighting sickness right now and its definitely showing. 165 on PT 48. I missed 6 in the first section alone. On the plus side, maybe if I'm sick now, I'll build up my immunity and have a better chance of being healthy on test day. Cause this sucks.

Could be a stupid question, but how would you all interpret the statement - "A will enable B to happen." Is A the sufficient condition here? Or is B? My educated guess is that A is the sufficient and B is the necessary.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I don't think you can draw a necessary condition from this statement. You can only infer a sufficient condition: "A". This isn't even a some statement since we don't know with certainty that any B's come from A's. We only know they can. Logically, this statement says very little. The Gentleman wrote:Could be a stupid question, but how would you all interpret the statement - "A will enable B to happen."
