I just started Preparing for the LSAT Test and am using powerscore's logic games bible. So far I understood what I was reading until I reached page 15 of the book. On page 15 they talk about split blocks. The rule they refer to states: Q is inspected two days before R is inspected. Why do they put not R under slot number 2 and not Q under slot number 5 in addition to having not R under slot number 1 and not Q under slot number 6 from the previous rule which was Q is inspected on the day immediately before R is inspected. the setup up is below (sorry for the bad diagram):

Q has to be 2 days before R... Therefore, R cannot be in slot 1 or 2 because Q needs to come before it... Q cannot be in slot 5 or 6 because that would imply R coming before Q which goes against the rule... If I am seriously mistaken somebody please correct me cause this is coming from somebody who looked over the first section of the LGB out of curiosity nearly 2 months ago ..

This is correct. The soonest R can be is slot 3 and the latest Q can be would be slot 4 (with R being in 6).

Split blocks can also be misleading because the rule states x two days after z for example, but there is only one day between them. If the set up is for a week day for instance and x has to be two days after z then Z could be on monday with X on Wednesday. Two days after, one day between.
