Why do you want to take it in June then? Why not September?

Well, I want to take it in June so I can retake in Oct if necessary and still get my applications in nice and early. Or if I feel my PT's aren't high enough by June I can safely postpone until Oct, also leaving me Dec if I need to retake and still get my apps in reasonably early.

Starting back up today! Havn't touched the LSAT since scoring a 162 in December, Hoping for a 170+ in June really ready to work hard for it.

Where are you in your studies? have you taken a diagnostic? and are you planning on taking a class or getting a tutor?

It was a stupid decision, but I took over 10 real tests with barely any preparation, apart from some run of the mill bookstore prep materials (Barron's and such). I thought assaulting the tests was the best strategy.

God, I was attacking formal logic questions early on without being aware of the need to build contrapositive chains to answer some very obvious (now) questions.

Ah, well, now I'm doing both LRB and LGB and find them both very helpful. I've read a few books on logic - I figured out I need to start understanding logicians if I want to be able to understand the questions they throw at me on LR.

I can do any logic game of any difficulty (I thought dinosaurs was pretty easy), but sadly I cannot do more than 3 in 35 minutes yet. Even 3 fairly straightforward logic games. Speed on logic games is by far my biggest weakness. Hopefully, the LGB will give a few more useful hints by the time I finish it.

I stopped doing Reading Comp for now because I routinely get -0 on those and it's just pointless.

And I still make an occasional annoying mistake on Logical Reasoning. Which brings me back to the need to understand the people who make those questions. I *know* I can get -0 on LR.

And no, I don't think a class or a tutor will be of much help to me.

I have a 2.7. I'm aiming for a 172+ so I can hopefully go to a T30. I hit a 175 on my last PT with 4 really dumb LR mistakes. T14 would be possible, although a long shot, if I could hit that on the real thing. With a 3.0, a 170+ will give you a decent shot at T14. Don't stress yourself out by thinking it's 180 or bust.

I studied for about a month and took the Sep. 09 test. - 157. I won't say the 157 wasnt indicative of my PERFORMANCE, but I feel 157 is vastly below my potential as the studying I did before Sep was pathetic compared to what I know how to study now. I took a powerscore online course but fell off the wagon halfway through due to medical issues.

I went through both bibles, although rather cursory... Games are my biggest weakness, I'm scoring Mid 160's with LG sections of -11 or 12 right now. LR is averaging around -3ish a section, with most of my mistakes either being not reading the answers through enough or narrowing it down to 2 and not pulling the trigger on the "Correct" answer. RC is kind of a wildcard hovering around 3 or 4 right now.

Right now I still have 20+ PTs untouched. I'm planning on continuing my rework of the LG bible, photocopying every game and doing them till I turn blue and reviewing them, and taking ~2 pts a week. I have an LR spreadsheet setup to track which LR's i'm missing and tailor my review to address those weaknesses, as well as periodic writeouts of entire LR section stimulus/questions. My schedule works out to where I take a PT monday, review it m-w, and then take another PT on thursday. Work Fri-Sun.

I need a 170+ to pull up my 2.95 LSAC gpa

Did (the majority of) the LRB and LGB, did all the questions from 19-38 by type. Taken 3 PTs and scored 169, 168, 165. Hoping my LSAT trend is like a business cycle.

169: LR: -3, -3, RC: -2, LG: -3
168: LR: -1, -1, RC: -2, LG: -8
165: LR: -3, -4, RC: -3, LG: -4

Too soon for a pattern I suppose. Other than I can't beat the games yet.

Weeks 1 (this one) through 7: finish the older PT's (done a fair number of them already), Kaplan 180, Ace the LSAT Logic Games, re-read LGB and LRB, and do all the logic games from PT's 14 through 29 to death.

The difference between .03 GPA pts and 3 LSAT points is huge.

I'm looking at the difference between a 3.68/9 and 3.71/2, and around a 169 or 172. I'd take the 172 and 3.68 over a 3.72 169 every time.

That's a good point. In fact I became a part-time student for this next quarter so I could focus more on the LSAT (but I still already have enough units where I can easily graduate within 4 years, and if I take a class or two over the summer I could even graduate a quarter early)

+1. Some days I feel good, other days I get conflicted because if x paper or y exam is a couple days away, its hard not to put that first. I had a rough semester last semester grade-wise because of some family junk, so its really important to me to get a big boost and really make the case that this past fall really was out of character for me.

Anyway, i'm still taking sections at a time... after my spring break i'm gonna start with whole tests!

I'm currently awaiting the arrival of my new study materials, the LG Bible and 2 PT books. I already have the Superprep which I'm going to redo and go through extremely carefully. I also have the Kaplan Advanced book, which is utter crap in case anyone was thinking of getting it. Don't.

The February test really killed my spirit and studying again is going to be hard, but at least I'm more motivated this time. And if I study my ass off for the next 3 months and don't score at least a 160, well, I guess it's grad school or a career as a trophy wife for me.

Is anybody else retaking in June? I'm doing so in the hopes of getting off a waitlist. Any specific strategies people use on retakes since I've done most if not all the PT's already?

Does that seem to work? I wish that would reduce my burnout, but for me school work is just as mentally taxing as the LSAT.

It has worked for the past few weeks, but with school picking up it's becoming more intensified this week. I'm coming to learn that as far as being able to pay attention and motivated on PTs, I need to give myself time off to get hungry. But my coursework is light this semester, and days off from the lsat are really just mild study days for school, along with the enjoyment of going on campus.

But basically when I see that school deadlines are coming up, exams, papers, etc., I overbook lsat materials planned for the 2 days leading up to the deadline in advance, then study for the tests on those two days keeping in mind that, given a limited amount of seriousness, I should really allocate more seriousness to the lsats than to schoolwork. I will say this though. In doing this overbooking method of the lsat I noticed a downward trend in PT scores (169->168->165), though I do attribute some variation to being my first timed PTs.

Anyway, I have exams this week and will be resuming PTs on friday, so I really can't say if its effective quite yet. But I imagine I will at least feel more focused coming off of a 4 day break.

Over all I've never been much of a slow and steady guy, more of a "obsessed then apathetic" type. So maybe try different things out. if I've learned one thing from the lsats its that there are always thing that get in the way of plans and you need to be flexible and determined.

I'm shooting for a 173 as well. According to LSP that LSAT gives me a solid shot at Stanford. Of course, I'm shooting for 180, but 173+ is my goal.
