Getting confused, hope someone can help with diagramming the below sentence.
'A gross disproportionality principle is applicable to sentences for terms of years."
Is it: GD-> SFTY? OR SFTY--> GD?
Diagrammable is probably not a word, but my entire question couldn't fit.

I suppose you could analyze the sentence as equivalent to "If it's a gross disproportionality principle, it's applicable to sentences for terms of years," which would match your first diagram.
I'd write something like, "gross dis. -> applicable," myself.
