Top Law Schools

I realize this is only for LSAT, but my girlfriend wants to take the GRE and I figured TLSers might know who the best prep company is. Someone like testmasters or powerscore.

I believe both TestMasters and PowerScore have GRE courses. Don't know about quality, though.

The GRE is like a million times easier than the LSAT. I just studied the Baron book a little and did really well. The verbal part is just analogies Bird:Plane- Fish:Boat type of stuff. The only difficult part is its just the words and there are no context clues. The math was pretty easy (I am not good at math and still did well) and the writing. If she's not good at writing, I would study up on that.
I believe I used the Baron book but I think they are all pretty much the same. Mine came with a CD with practice tests and a diagnostic. I am a teacher and lots of teachers take it to get their masters and they all do fine.

You don't need a "company" GRE Verbal is ALL vocab memorization, and Math is all high school algebra/geometry. The Barrons review book is excellent for the math section, and vocab just make flashcards.

What degree is she seeking and where? Some (most) schools don't consider a GRE grade...just fulfilling the requirement that you have taken it. I think LSAT prep has its advatages over the GRE and likewise. I find it difficult to develolp a sound study routine for the GRE. The GRE is more less an intelligence test IMHO. If she hasn't already, my suggestion is to do a bit of reseach on the different sections of the GRE and then take it. Unlike the LSAT, a high GRE has no bearing on top graduate schools or merit scholarships. There are more important deciding factors when applying to grad school...the GRE is low on that list.

I disagree... one could do VERY well on the GRE just by simply learning thousands of esoteric word definitions and refreshing their high school level math...

You are also correct, "one could do VERY well on the GRE" by memorizing Webster's.

She's applying to engineering - anyone know if they weight GRE less/more than other types of grad school?

Kaplan. They have the most comprehensive prep books out of any company. I can't say the same for their LSAT prep stuff, though.
