taxi dropped me off late to LSAT!

Postby tommytahoe » Sat Feb 06, 2010 3:21 pm

Where can I direct my anger???

Live in Davis,
arranged for a taxi to drive me to Sacramento (McGeorge) to leave at exactly 8:00 am. He didn't show up until 8:20. No other cab companies were available (oh, that I were in Manhattan!). I arrived and the woman at the desk said that they just handed out the tests, and people were about to start bubbling in etc...

I am certain another person, at another center, would have let me in. I stopped short of begging this woman. I told her that I am sure my entering to fill in the bubbles with everyone else would not be a real disruption, but hey, rules are rules. If she only knew the substantial difference in scholly $$ a 2- or 3-point improvement on my score would mean for me and my career... Oy vay.

I have a 163/3.8 and my apps are already in (this was just gonna be a way to get me off waitlists, or get extra schollies. But still, I had such a positive, aggressive attitude going in. This is not right, and here I am venting to thousands of complete strangers. :(

I hope for y'all's sake (but not mine) you had a generous curve.

sorry dude, should have left earlier? this is why you can't rely on cab drivers on test day.

a twenty minute difference in your time screwed you = you didn't give enough of a cushion for contingencies like this.

sorry though, that does really suck

i think anybody on this forum would have told you not to rely on a taxicab the morning of the lsat.

sorry though, for what its worth you still have good numbers and will end up at a good school

You're both right in RE: contingency (my first thought), and the cab factor (I don't have a car btw). Should have paid a friend to drive me —to the extent that friends can be reliable at 8:00 am Saturday morning.

Also, 163/3.8 isn't the end of the world. Life's lesson is if you can't change it don't cry about it. Instead of breaking my knuckles against something or someone, I'll deal.

thanks for the good words though.

you got a good attitude about it. for anybody else taking the LSAT in the future heres what i did both times: f'n fullproof.

found a testing center with a hotel right across the street from it. in my case it was a very very small little town with a private university in it, about an hour from where i live. get a room. drive out the afternoon beforehand. check in. grab a nice dinner. get a real good nights sleep in your hotel. wake up. shower. have breakfast. take a 5 minute walk to the testing center. full proof and i'm sure it contributed to my good score being completely stress free the morning of the test

I guess this is one of those life lessons. It takes me about 10 minutes to get to the test center (25 if i take the subway). I ordered a taxi (in a city FULL of taxis) to pick me up at 7:30. I got there a bit before 7:45. lol.

Don't sweat it. You can't change anything now. Just in the future... leave EARLY.

Also--somewhat unrelated-- but if you have a girlfriend and she asks you to pick her up somewhere or meet her somewhere, LEAVE EARLY.
