Powerscore Prep or Testmasters Prep

Postby bmo7787 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 9:32 pm

I'm planning on taking the LSAT on June 7th. I am trying to decide whether to take the Powerscore prep course or the Testmasters course. I have heard great things about both, but I cannot seem to make a decision. I need a class because I work full time and need the discipline. I'm not interested in studying just from books and practice tests. I'm also not interested in Kaplan or Princeton Review. Powerscore is about $300 cheaper than Testmasters, so I'm thinking of going with Powerscore to save some money. Any thoughts?? Help!

I had a great experience with TM. I recommend taking TM and then reviewing with the LG and LR bibles. I think TM has better approaches in a few cases (in-out grouping games, for instance), based on my comparison of the TM class to the material in the bibles. Also, the TM class consists of 15 four-hour lectures while the PS class only consists of 12. I'm not sure where PS finds 12 lecture hours to cut from the schedule; that's a bit of an eyebrow-raiser for me.

Be forewarned, though, that the TM materials you will receive are pretty spare. The TM materials are delivered almost entirely through lecture, and your ability to have and review them will depend on your ability to take good notes. (Of course, if you're a bad note-taker, law school is probably not for you anyway.)

Okay, thanks! TM definitely seems like it gives you more bank for your buck and it also has more manageable locations in my city. I'll have to do a little more research and make my final decision soon. Oh, and I actually love taking notes (weird I know) so hopefully that will work to my advantage. :D
