PT 35 Section 4 Q23 (LR)

Post by maks25 » Mon Jan 18, 2010 10:45 pm

I don't understand why the answer is D? Even A and B seem right, or am i missing a crucial point in the question?

I am having a lot of trouble with this PT's LR sections, is it me or is LR getting progressively harder?

thanks

A is not right because the comparison is to the self and not everything. Its as one gets older, one gets wiser. This only applies within the person, it cannot be used to compare different people on the basis of age. For example, I could conclude you in 2 years will be wiser than you now, but I can't conclude I am wiser than you simply because I am older because the premise is only valid in comparison within the self.

B is incorrect because it brings in two variables. More eggwhites and longer they are beaten. Both must be satisfied to justify the conclusion. Only one is satisfied.

D is correct because it lays out clearly

Older -> more rings

Lou's tree is older than Theresa's tree

Thus Lou's tree has more rings than Theresa's tree

Could it also be said that A is incorrect because of the "gets" rather than the present "is" as is in D ?

Thats how I figured it anyway..
