I'm having difficulty in understanding why B is the answer. Maybe it's the wording, but it's just plain confusing to me.

Hey,

The answer is B because if each complete sterilization (recall there are 50 of them) of the nylon instruments required more energy than it took to manufacture the whole set, it cannot be possible that, overall, the 50 sterilizations only used 3.4 times more energy than it took to manufacture them. Thus, answer choice B is the correct one because it is in direct conflict with the stated facts of the question stem.
