I'm surprised this isn't more common. Seems like a win-win for the school...

Alabama not only provides reimbursement, they actually book the airfare and hotel for you ahead of time.
Notre Dame offers a $300 travel stipend to all admitted students (for any visit date, ASW or not), but you do have to submit a perfunctory application beforehand.
Yeah, I am pretty sure Alabama has some former, shady football recruiters working in their law office now... they do a really good job of courting admitees.
I have seriously said the exact same thing to my parents.

For those interested in NY ASW's, the Cardozo admissions packet says that they do provide travel subsidies; I'm not sure how much tho.

Some admitted students receive $400 stipend, but it says in the acceptance packet that it's a select offer not available for everyone.

It seems like if you get a significant scholarship they offer it, though not all scholarships... I'm pretty sure I saw a couple people with small scholarship amounts (like less than 10K) who didn't get the stipend.

So is UVA's stipend only for airfare? I was planning on taking the train, but might fly if the cost is covered...

tagged. Also can someone point to me where UIUC state's their policy? I didn't see it when I first looked on the Admitted Students' page.

Updated with some new information. Still missing a ton of schools, so let's try and find some more info!

Not sure, I am emailing Dean Faulk about this today, and I'll tell you what he says.

Please do post. Would love to go to ASW. UVA TLS's should agree to attend the same time. Get drinks.

A note about WUSTL: my e-mail says they'll reimburse up to $200 if you live more than 100 mi away for any campus visits between now and April 1. This is especially nice, since it is not limited to the ASDs.

And has UVA said anything in writing this cycle yet about travel reimbursements? Jason Dugas mentioned it on the phone, but I haven't seen it in any of the materials yet.

Thanks for putting all this info together!

W&L's admitted students page says:

Attend an Open House. Our Admitted Student Open Houses are scheduled for March 19-20 and April 2-3. More specific details about our two Open Houses are forthcoming. We provide lodging and subsidize a certain, fixed amount of travel expenses for all Open House attendees.

Glad to hear they help out. If someone shoots them a message to ask the actual amount, they can go on the board!

Pepperdine offers up to $400 in reimbursements... but they're only reimbursed in the form of a scholarship. This means that you will be reimbursed if and only if you matriculate, in the form of all travel expenses up to $400 being discounted from your first tuition payment.

For all of the above listed schools: Are you reimbursed in cash? Or is it only if you choose to attend? Sorry- too much to read to see if this has been answered already.

Just got a return email from Dean Faulk; the Law School Foundation is finalizing both the amounts and terms of their travel stipend right now, and they'll let us know about them in the next couple of weeks.

Sorry there aren't more specifics. His email makes it seem like the grants will be similar to those provided last year.

Dude, Cornell doesn't make everyone pay their own way. If your sample size is one, or even a few, you're doing it wrong.

Thanks for checking it out!
From what the director of admissions, Jason Dugas, told me on the phone at Virginia, it's a reimbursement check that you get just by checking off that you were there at the ASW (not dependent on whether you flew). And if I remember correctly, he said people in the very near proximity (a few states) get $150, all others this side of the Mississippi river get $250, and west of the Mississippi get $400.

As it says in the initial post, this is imperfect, and would stand to be helped by new information. Instead of being snarky and unhelpful, help us fill in the information.

I didn't apply to Cornell, and was told by several folks that they don't reimburse. If this is wrong, help us fix it.

Sorry, b. I don't have much helpful info for this cycle, so it very well could be the case that the admissions office changed their policy (although I highly doubt it). Last cycle, they gave people within a couple hours driving distance some gas money, and people from out of state got a few hundred for flight and a room. They feed you pretty well if you go to ASW and get you drunk too. If they don't, I will. That goes for anyone here....actually, I should watch what I say (given Ks class). I may or may not get anyone drunk or fed.
