I am extremely liberal, to the point where I'm almost a libertarian. I wouldn't say conservatives annoy me, but I have no problem expressing my opinions on a number of things. Will this cause me to be looked upon negatively there?

I know Catholic is a religious school (obviously), but how invasive is it? Will I have teachers giving me their thoughts on abortion, etc...?

Or is the religious part of the school just for decoration (I know that seems obtuse, but I mean do they get funding from the church, decorate the buildings with Catholic paraphenalia, etc....) or is it an active part of the law school experience there?

well, if Catholic is like any other catholic-affiliated school in the country, they don't get money from the church. They are catholic because they were founded by catholics. They aren't going to force their beliefs down your throat. Besides, you don't run into the Ned Flanders types of people in the catholic church. I would bet that many catholics are a great deal like myself. We don't really pay to much attention to biblical study, and just have somebody else give us the general idea. Then, we just complain about everything. :) don't worry about the religious aspect. This isn't like Liberty or Bob Jones or some protestant institution. It won't be an issue.

I think Catholic University is operated by the Catholic Church. It's the national university of the Catholic Church in the United States. Here's the Mission Statement: http://www.cua.edu/about-cua/mission-statement.cfm.

I don't know much about the law school, but i know people attending the undergraduate institution. I know the University has a policy against allowing guests to speak on campus to any audience if they have previously expressed opinions that conflict with the Church's official position (ex: abortion).

With that said, there are plenty of liberal-leaning people attending Catholic. It's definitely not a Bob Jones or a Liberty.

recently I read an article in national jurist from the dean of cua. She said the religious affiliation boils down to teaching more about ethical, moral and civil duty than to religion. An aspect of Catholicism is morals and respect of others. This is as far as they go in religious teachings.

I wouldn't be too woried about it. If anything, learning how to be an ethical lawyer is a good thing!
