Hofstra Law Ranking

Post by nickyspad67 » Wed Jul 09, 2014 10:35 am

Does anyone have any insight as to why Hofstra has plummeted so severely in the rankings over the past two years?

Not trying to be a jerk, but at Hofstra’s level the rankings don’t really matter. With a school like that your debt, job prospects and regional reputation should be the only thing that worries you. No one cares about the difference between being ranked 75 or 100, but they should care about a ton of debt and being unemployed (which unfortunately is pretty likely from Hofstra these days).

Yep. The school is the same piece of garbage now that it was two years ago. No employer cares about USNWR rankings. Whether it jumps or falls 25 spots in next year's rankings, they will regard Hofstra exactly the same as they do now -- as a trash heap.

For taking on ~$285K of debt at the beginning of repayment (financing full COA with loans), Hofstra rewards you with less than a coin flip's chance of working in a full-time, long-term job requiring a JD (i.e., a job as an actual lawyer). And most of those jobs will be pure crap. That's the reality regardless of how exactly Hofstra bounces around with dozens of other garbage law schools in the meaningless USNWR rankings.

To restate the other posters, rankings don't matter.
However to address your question, plummeting admission standards most likely.
