Recommendation Letter Question!!

Everyone,

I don't really have an academic advisor that I can ask for a letter of recommendation. This is the biggest hole in my application. Does it look ridiculous to take a summer class at a local 4-year college and try to get a recommendation from that person? Would that be better than getting a rec letter from a professor who I got an A with but doesn't know me very well? Thanks so much for the help!

Also, are three rec letters really best? Is 2 sufficient?

It may be a little much to take a class JUST so the professor could write you a letter. There are plenty of applicants that come from huge schools where the professors may not necessarily know them...

If possible, I would find a way to meet with the professor so that he/she can get a better sense of who you are as a person, why you're going to law school, and what the schools you're looking at want in an applicant. My professors knew me pretty well, but some still asked to see my personal statement or for some sort of exchange (either via email or in person) before writing the LOR.

Above poster is trolling you. Dont write it yourself.

And dont take another class after graduating since it wont raise your gpa. Choose profs FROM YOUR COLLEGE which gave you your degree and who gave you good grades and who you have a strong working relationship with. Research, thesis adviser, minor adviser, ect. If you really never got close to a prof, even in an upper div class, just ask someone recent in whose class you stood out, or at minimum, got an A. Also 2 profs is fine -- I did 2 profs and it was no problem. 3 academic is only recommended if they each actually have something important to say.
