Deadline Negotiation

Post by keviiiiiiiiiiiin » Thu Apr 04, 2013 5:32 am

Has anyone successfully negotiated a deposit deadline deferral? Is there a way to send a "please just let me have two more weeks as I still have one more ASW to go to at a different school" email without sounding pathetic?

Got it. Not as long as I wanted, but a little more time.

Can you share what you did? I need a little more time from one more school.

I was just honest. I told them I liked their school, but I didn't have enough info to make a decision.

I had a binding scholarship deadline to accept, which was prior to many of the scheduled visits I made. I provided receipts of plane tickets for travel to other schools which I scheduled prior to being notified of said deadline. They extended.

For those who have asked for deadline extensions, did you ask for a certain date, or keep it vague? Obviously I would like the maximum extra time possible, but I also feel like throwing a specific date out there may give me the best shot of having them say yes. Thoughts?

Specific date, for sure. Just so I could have enough time to get my travel done and to be fair. They actually gave me a few days after what I asked for.

I asked for two weeks. They gave me one.
