Question about retaking

Hello everyone,

I have received some very generous scholarships to some strong T2 schools in the area I want to practice. After looking at the total coa including interest incurred, I think a retake is my best option. I have a 3.68 with a 160. My LSAT was one point below the median for one school, but I still received a huge scholarship. I understand that my gpa is high, and I think my "why x" statements helped. Even if my score doesn't improve significantly (or at all) will I get the same scholarship I did this time? Has anyone ever experienced a situation where a school offered a lower scholarship the next cycle? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Also, I was wondering if everyone uses the same essays/personal statements when they apply again. Thanks!

So if you study and retake and do 170+, you'll open all new doors and not give a shit about this T2 scholarship. That is what you should do. You retaking the LSAT and then re-applying next year could indicate that you did not want to go to their school last year, so why waste anything on you this year? Therefore, there is a chance you won't get the same size scholly at all the schools in question - if for no other reason than they knew that you had the opportunity to do such a thing this year, and next year you will have less of an opportunity and therefore they wouldn't have to pay you as much to have you accept their offer.

Honestly dude, re-take and don't worry about it. 180 or bust.

Isn't it typically true that a retake results in only a few points? I guess I am just nervous that I won't do significantly better and be in a worse position than I am now. I totally agree as well, that if my score is 170+ I would disregard these schools. My prep was through Kaplan, which I guess is regarded as garbage. Thanks for the insight.

Get Manhattan or logical equivalent (aka anything except Kaplan dumpster fire prep), retake, profit
