Hahaha, the only good reason I have for wanting to go to law school is my desire to advocate for the constitutional principles that make this country an acceptable place to live.

It's a good reason in that it's an admirable goal, but it's not a good reason actually to go to law school, since most lawyers don't do anything remotely like that.

See, now you're thinking you know why everyone should go to law school again.

So few lawyers actually do constitutional litigation and it's not something you can really just waltz into. A good deal of con litigation is actually done pro bono by big firms, such as recent DOMA lit.
Going to law school to be a constitutional lawyer is highly impractical and unlikely. It's practically like going to be an international human rights lawyer.

So, I want to be a lawyer, because I want to pick apart arguments for a living. When I imagine my ideal job, it is NOT helping rich people get away with shit. Am I wrong to assume that this is a huge portion of the workload in biglaw? Also, if I want to be a hotshot lawyer working for the gov't or pi, am I going to have to go through biglaw anyway? I say this, because I am justifying to myself forgoing attendance at a T10 at sticker this year, because I don't want biglaw. Is biglaw in the cards for all of us anyway?

Everything that you've said in this thread smacks of not only not knowing much about the legal profession, but also not knowing much about the way the world works. These posters turn up now and again. They have the world figured out, they don't realize it's a phase, they put their fingers in their ears and hum when anyway tries to be anything but an echo-chamber, and they say sage things like "I think it's an academic interest. Practice is a different animal." They tend to be more enamored of their own intellects than reality would dictate is prudent, and all you can do is hope for the best for them.
