Median LSAT @ Your UG

Post by Crowing » Sun Mar 03, 2013 4:15 pm

Just curious - what's the median LSAT at your UG? You can check it on your LSAC transcript. NU's is 162; I'm wondering what it is at HYP level schools - 165+?

TYFT

There are definitely some surprises on that list - WUSTL UG only @ 158 and NYU's @ 159 (I'd never even heard of NYU before I was interested in LS...)

Although it doesn't have as many schools, we did a more recent version of that here: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 2&t=196480

For Williams College, for some reason I can't find an actual median listed (possibly because my degree is ANCIENT - the LSAT College Mean listed is 039??), and I have no math skills to figure out the actual median, but 43% were 95%ile+, and 16% more were 90-94%ile.

My school's still a 155.

Here's our applicant data for 2011- --LinkRemoved--

My school's LAS program is a feeding ground for John Marshall, DePaul, Chicago-Kent, and Loyola.

Interesting, applicants that were graduates (rather than still in undergrad) had on average lower GPAs and lower LSATs. I'm guessing a lot of people who are graduates take the LSAT "on a whim" with minimal studying time and account for lower scores.

Well large schools are bound to have more "future plan-less" undergrads who will show up to take the LSAT without even preparing much for it

I was expecting NYU to be lower because I didn't think their UG was particularly well regarded. I don't think WUSTL is that big, but the recent spreadsheet has them at 163 so I guess this stuff can vary a shitton from year to year.

Brown's GPA mean: 3.61. Lol, grade inflation. Does half the class graduate with latin honors?

LACs seem to be doing really well with their LSAT means. Wonder if it's because of their selective admissions or if there's something about the liberal arts curriculum.
Big schools vs. Small Schools. Would be nice to see # of test takers with that data. That one really smart motivated kid from the small LAC is really helping bring up his school's average as opposed to that kid at BigStateU who is getting drowned in data by the the high volume of 2.8/147 people who are "interested in the law".

Not sure why that's surprising. Every school at 158 and above is pretty reputable.

Proudly claiming the lowest GPA average on the list. Service Academies representing!

Sadly, that average is higher than the mean for the entire graduating class, which sits around a 2.80. Either we're generally really dumb or the grading was just tough. I can't decide which one it is.

So do your numbers in relation to your school's numbers mean anything during the application process? Does it look good if your numbers are stellar and your school sucks? Will they see you went to a crappy school and think less of your application? Do they not care in the slightest?

In theory, maybe? I guess it could be used to gauge the difficulty/prestige of a lesser-known school. In practice, I doubt it has ever been considered.
