Who Are the Greatest Lawyers Alive?

Post by scifiguy » Mon Feb 04, 2013 3:39 pm

Kind of a very broad question eh?

But I'm actually curious though. Who are some of the great lawyers of our age?

You can go by sector: ...like small law (Erin Brockovich?...Johnnie Cochrane?)...biglaw (who is a super famous partner?).....government (Supreme Court Justices?).....

Are there even such things as "great" lawyers - people who transcend their success and name in the legal community and are known by even the common man too?

Yes, I'm slightly bored, but I'm also serious too.

Off topic, but every time I see the commercial with your tar I get a little bit angrier.

Eric Brockovich never went to law school, so I'm not sure she'd count either.

Yeeeeeesh.

After everything he's done, it's no wonder his "personal life" section is only one sentence.

Am I the only one who noticed this?

From the Boies wiki " Boies has dyslexia and he did not learn to read until the third grade"

That's actually really inspiring. And unlike a lot of big firm lawyers he didn't come from a white shoe background. It says his parents were teachers in rural Illinois. One thing that has really turned me off about law is how many successful lawyers are born into the profession from white shoe families. In many ways law is probably the biggest ole boy's club profession around.
