Transactional Law

Postby joedf » Thu Nov 29, 2012 5:01 pm

Is it necessary to have a background in Finance/Business/Econ to pull this off at BigLaw later on?

Is it something I could learn sufficiently to the satisfaction of almost anyone while in law school?

For the most part, the only way to get into or get any experience with transactional work is to get a summer with a full service firm and try some transactional assignments over the summer (although these won't be very meaningful or representative) and then get an offer to go into one of their transactional practice groups. You will learn everything on the job along with pretty much everyone else, regardless of background.
