Deferred at top choice after ED. Should I retake in Feb?

The other option would be to send in another LOR, and perhaps a Why X essay, while raising my GPA with the classes I have left. Also, I do not want to rush a retake, since I may need it down the line, but at the same time taking ANOTHER year off to reapply makes me want to cringe. (I'm going to be 24 in a month) However, if I am eventually denied, then I will wind up retaking and reapplying regardless, but with considerably more time to prep.

I have spoken with a few other applicants who have been admitted with numbers similar to mine, but with stellar softs, so perhaps some additional information could sway an acceptance my way?

Please help.

You ED'd to Michigan State and got deferred? Ummmm, take as many years off as possible and try to get an LSAT score that will at least let you go to a school like that for free. Judging by your posting history, you've also applied to St. Louis U, DePaul, Syracuse, Kent, Marquette, and Loyola Chicago. What exactly are your goals here re: JD? But seriously, take as many years off as it will take.

If you really just ED'd Michigan State or any of those other schools, they might have just did you a favor.

This. 24 is not old. Don't rush the process, do it right so that you don't wind up unemployed and drowning in debt.

Life ain't a race, dude. If you're in your senior year, then just study for june lsat, finish with strong grades, and retake to get a good score. I would rather hear about how you got accepted off the ED to Michigan as opposed to michigan state. the median age of incoming students at law schools range from 24-26, you're fine.

It'd be a wiser investment to bet that money on sports, the stock market, a roulette spin, or a host of other things than to go to Kent. Google for the article about the Chicago Kent LR EIC that was unemployed until his story got on ATL.

Can you also buy yourself a law firm? Or is your daddy a rainmaking partner at Jenner?

If not, work, wait, spend a bit of that $150k on an LSAT tutor and try for NU, UMich & UChi next year.

I can afford a blow job from an AIDs riddled hooker, doesn't mean I'll pay for it. Not to say that Kent is that bad or anything...but that is a lot of money. If you are so keen on Kent, just study hard for the LSAT, retake. 164 will get you a 60k scholly. Spend 90 on school and the rest on hawks season tickets and a new whip. Seriously, just cuz you have the money doesn't mean you have to spend it.

BTW, to answer your original question: YES, retake! If you do really well they might offer you money. If you do REALLY well and think that you can do even better, just go ahead and retake in June --> ED NU

I understand the point you're trying to make, but these alternatives are just stupid.

After reading the article you told me to google, I can't help but feel sorry for the guy.

Lol at the fact you compare paying sticker at Kent to paying for a bj from a dirty hooker, then go on to clarify that Kent is not so bad..

Investing in the stock market is stupid compared to paying $150k and three years of your life for a degree that you may not even be able to use?

Investing in the stock market is stupid compared to paying $150k and three years of your life for a degree that you may not even be able to use?
If I thought I was savvy enough to successfully invest 150k in the stock market, then why would I be considering law school to begin with?

So you're going to law schol to learn to invest in the stock market?

You know that there are people that can do this sort of stuff for you, right?

Are you saying that you're not good with knowing what is and what is not a good investment? Well damn.....

That is exactly what I'm saying, hence why I'm here asking for advice, however, when I think someones advice is insincere, then I have no problem saying that it is.

I sincerely believe that schools like Kent and DePaul are not a good investment. I have been researching law schools for years and have talked to many, many law students from a variety of schools. If you've got that much money to throw around, find something better to spend it on. There seriously is a sizable chance that if you go a low-tier school in Chicago, you will either not be able to find legal work at all or it will be legal work not of the kind that you would actually want (think, making $45k/yr to review mind-numbing documents or trying to sue local businesses for slip-and-fall cases you know are probably a sham).
