i am a semi regular poster, but a long time lurker but with persmission have created this account just for this one topic. I am having difficulty controlling my chemical intake. I have a history of substance abuse, and for the most part, including last year was able to keep it in check. however, for some reason ive found myself falling off the wagon so to speak. Im not contemplating going to treatement, i am contemplating if i should use my school services, or keep them in the dark and seek out help on my own. I dont want to have any blemishes on my record, and well, i dont want to throw away my success from last year. at the same time, if i let things go, i will do that, so this is the one important step that i must take. i dont know or belive that i need to step away from school, but if a professional opinion says otherwise, then i will. should i use the schools resources, or keep them in the dark. please dont quote this

Seek help, but make sure you carefully read the confidentiality clauses and agreements and such. I remember reading here that someone has gotten screwed from this before.

Shouldn't HIPPA protect OP's medical records? Or does ABA or state Bar require someone seeking admission to waive their protection?

Not advocating any course of action just saying that life seems to have dealt you a shit hand at the moment. Get help to overcome something, and possibly miss out on the career you want. I hope everything works out and don't take my comment that you are in a bad situation as a reason to feel bad. I hope things work out, bro.
