ITT: Post HORRIBLE exam stories that resulted in a B+ or bet Forum

As an 0L, I'm not sure if this thread is a relief that its indeed possible to get good grades in law school, or if just reinforces the statement that grades are in essence arbitrary.

As a 1L who just finished his first semester, I don't even know which one I'm hoping for yet.

Took an exam this semester and I feel like I might have bombed...literally I could see anywhere from a D to maybe a B (I'm on a B curve). I talked to 5 or 6 people from class and they all felt like it was really hard and said they were really unsure. Praying the curve will actually save me. So I'm bumping this thread cause it made me feel slightly better.

I started studying for patent law with less than 24 hours before the exam, and I hadn't slept the night before. I ended up taking about 3 hours in the middle of a 24 cram session.

I skipped about 25% of the test.

I was flabergated when I got grades back. I figured even A- was out of the question.

Not quite as dramatic as the others, but: my Employment law exam had a word limit. I COMPLETELY forgot about this. The exam ended, we're all uploading to Examsoft, my computer's restarting and the guy next to me says something about the word limit. Which I had totally ignored.

Got an A-.

Now, I don't know for sure that I even blew past the word limit - since I forgot so completely I never looked at it - so I might have been fine. But it was still a huge relief to get that grade.

Had no idea what I was doing in Con Law. Didn't understand the doctrines or principles, couldn't understand the prof's approach, etc. Messed up every practice exam and could barely even identify the major issues, let along break them down and analyze. And everyone in my study group knew the material hands down, while I was lost. I got an A- while everyone else in my study group topped out at a B+. Go figure.
