Wrong. Slavery was rampant durring his time and this was so throughout the world. It bothered him though. He was raised to think of slaves as less than human but he knew this was wrong.

1855: AL wrote to Joshua Speed, a slave-owning friend.“I confess I hate to see the poor creatures hunted down, and caught, and carried back to their stripes, and unrewarded toils; but I bite my lip and keep quiet… In 1841 you and I had together a tedious low-water trip, on a Steam Boat from Louisville to St. Louis. You may remember, as I well do, that from Louisville to the mouth of the Ohio there were, on board, ten or a dozen slaves, shackled together with irons. That sight was a continual torment to me; and I see something like it every time I touch the Ohio (River), or any other slave-border.It is hardly fair for you to assume, that I have no interest in a thing which has, and continually exercises, the power of making me miserable.”(Lincoln, 1953, v2, p 320)
True Lincoln did not like slavery. But, he was not at all accepting of blacks in any sense. see, attempts at colonization, emigration bureau, Il a Vache, etc. he was certainly no bleeding heart liberal with respect to racial diversity/equality.

If everything is open for interpretation then lets just have true democracy which equals mob-rule.
Sorry dude, I have to take exception to that. If you and your crazies don't have room for my atheism, sorry. We're going to shove government run medicine down your throat and you're going to enjoy it.
Its ok to be Atheist according to the constitution. In the case of your unalienable rights we will say for the sake of argument that you are your own god.

I'd rather not have you arguing for me. I'll handle it myself, thanks.

There doesn't have to be some created god. Right-wing wackos have a terribly difficult time wrapping their arms around this concept.

Again, if you do not receive your rights from your creator, then you must have been granted those basic rights by man. The problem is that if man can grant you those rights, he can also take them away. No one is asking you to worship their god. Just beware of the elimination of god as it leaves only mankind as the end all and say all. I don't care if you are Atheist, Muslim, Buddhist, Satanist, or you worship the flying spaghetti monster. Personal beliefs are part of your rights.

Let's see.
  • She was against the student loan bill in 2007 that created PSLF.

What's wrong with being against PSLF? I think it is stupid and pretty arbitrary that someone who works for the government can get their loans forgiven with substantially better terms than someone working in the private sector.

Because serving your country, often by taking a much lower salary than you otherwise would receive in the private sector, is "stupid" and "arbitrary" in comparison to other forms of public service. It's not like you're doing anyone a service by prosecuting crime and attempting to protect the public from malfeasance. Hell why do we even need government groups like the SEC and the Justice Department? Corporations, bankers, and CEO's are very benevolent groups that don't need any oversight; they overwhelmingly make decisions with the benefit of the American public in mind.
