In at Yale, yet rejected elsewhere? Forum

A friend of mine knows a girl who recently got into Yale but was rejected and waitlisted at other schools in the Top 10. I guess it's great that she got in, and it shows you how unpredictable the cycle is. But doesn't this seem a tad extreme?

It happens. I know someone who got into Y but not H or S.
