Re: What went wrong?
I thought multiple scores were bad?
I was going to retake my 167 but my adviser said don't...
By the way, how do LORs work for those reapplying? Do I have to get different ones?

Multiple scores are mildly worse than a single, but if you raise your score by even one point, it is a good decision to retake. If you lower it, it still doesn't hurt you that much since the decision is almost entirely based on your highest score.rosewood wrote:I thought multiple scores were bad?

1.) most schools just take your top score, so multiple scores is finerosewood wrote:I thought multiple scores were bad?

2.) your LORs are good for a few years, it should say how long on LSAC. they will stay on your LSAC account, you don't need to get new ones.
3.) you have a great gpa, and with a 170+ lsat you could get into some really great schools with scholarships. i don't think there's anything wrong with taking a year off to retake the lsat, get some work experience, etc. you're coming right out of undergrad, right? law school will be there next year.

I do mean the next cycle. I was planning on taking the October test, though, since June is so close. Is this a bad idea? :/
schools don't care about multiple takes, roll the dice

It's just that May will be a pretty busy month for me (graduation, etc).
Okay, I got it. But what do I do about "weak softs"? What's a strong soft?Veyron wrote:This.dr123 wrote:weak softs and not a high enough lsat?

Then not much I can do before September/October when I reapply, right? :/
So okay, the LORs stay there, but SHOULD I use them?

If money's not really an issue then applying in Sept in the next cycle without retaking would give you a boost for T14.

Re: What went wrong?
by far the most important factor is improving your lsat score. and you should probably get a job since you won't be attending law school for another like 18 months?rosewood wrote:Then not much I can do before September/October when I reapply, right? :/

What does "ft" mean?dr123 wrote:You can get a ft job before you reapply
& I cannot actually get a job in the United States because of my visa status (thus helping with family business). I have been living here for a long time, since I was a kid, but I am still considered international.

uh, how do you expect to get a job as a lawyer if you can't legally work in the US?

Re: What went wrong?
From what I've seen, law schools in general are more willing to take someone who might otherwise have been a WL later in the cycle if they're complete really early in the cycle since there's more spots. People with your numbers have def gotten into T14 and if you do ED somewhere, you'll get a boost too.rosewood wrote:What does "ft" mean?dr123 wrote:You can get a ft job before you reapply

uh i would definitely wait a year, then, at least. you're going to want to find employment your first summer of law school (though you could delay that by taking an unpaid internship or a research assistant position, but this will restrict your options). you're also going to be interviewing for jobs in the fall of your second year, and will need to be eligible to work as a summer associate in the summer between 2L and 3L.rosewood wrote:By the time I graduate law school I will be a permanent resident.fatduck wrote: uh, how do you expect to get a job as a lawyer if you can't legally work in the US?
