Suicide rate?
Is suicide a problem in law school?
Which schools have the highest suicide rate?
This topic is just to satisfy my morbid curiosity.

Re: Suicide rate?
About 90% of the 1Ls at my school survived last year, but some of the 10% that didn't were killed or died in accidents - I don't think they were all suicides. The funerals kind of get to be a bummer after a while :-/

Re: Suicide rate?
The suicide rate isn't too bad--generally about one or two per month. That increases a bit during finals. Sometimes it's distracting when a student slits their wrist during an exam, but after a while you learn to focus so it doesn't get to you anymore. The only real downside is that it's typically the weaker students who off themselves, which means that more of the better students are left, and that makes the curve a little harsher.

So what's the murder rate like then? How many gunners do the median students whack to ease the curve?Tsispilos wrote:The suicide rate isn't too bad--generally about one or two per month. You generally don't have to worry about that unless you raise your hand a lot and try to correct the professors.Thomas Jefferson wrote:So what's the murder rate like then? Last night it was adult diapers - today it's suicide rate.
Stay tuned for tomorrow when we'll talk about butterscotch consumption relative to each law school!

you have it backwards. it's the gunners taking down other gunners.Thomas Jefferson wrote:So what's the murder rate like then? i believe this is the view from a nearby holiday inn. please note the walkway into the front of the building, conveniently within an easy line of sight.

there are also spots within the hall itself -- thanks you, open architecture. hopefully i can stick to the black jumpsuit and not have unnecessary insulation weighing me down.
