vanderbilt law school nickname?

Post by dudnaito » Thu Jun 10, 2010 1:38 am

What nickname?

TLS Law School Profile

The Vanderbilt University Law School has a nickname. If you have heard it spoken before, this nickname might evoke something in you. Current students and alumni will say it with more than simple pride; professors and administrators also know the nickname, as do employers across the country.

In his defense, that whole introduction is very poorly written.

Honestly when I read that profile I was confused about which one they were referring to as well.

No, they are referring to Vandy. I read that too and remember thinking wtf kind of secret nickname are they referring to? I think the "harvard of the south" is a debatable title for duke, uva, and vandy but most probably think of duke.

Since Washington DC is about halfway between Cambridge and Nashville, does that make Georgetown the Georgetown of the Mid-Atlantic?

I've heard this term used for so many schools (Rice, Duke, Vandy, even Emory).

Google "Harvard of the South". Several universities appear including the Univ. of Georgia & the Univ. of Mississippi. Usually refers to either Duke or Vanderbilt, although Rice is also frequently noted. Since Goggle seems unable to definitively resolve this, we'll have to rely on Mapquest.

Yeah Idk why any anyone would want to publicly claim they are sweating Harvard's balls that hard (even if they do in secret).

Anyone who is dying to hold on to "Harvard of the South" is an idiot. Contextually, this means nothing. Just see what urban dictionary has to say about it. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... he%20South
