Might make a good personal statement. Depends on what he does between now and law school. Climbed Mt. Everest by 13 and spent the next 8 years trying to get laid (and failed at it) doesn't sound as accomplished.

There's just not as much of a "no w/e vs great w/e" divide as you might expect. Tons of people have worked some, and not many people have worked a job so great that it's a game-changer.

The general point I was making is that softs can be a big deal ... (e.g. URM status, Olympic athlete, famous porn star , etc). Okay, maybe not the last example, but you get me.

Take two 3.5, 169 kids:
1 didn't do much out of ordinary in college and has a regular job.
2 was involved in major leadership roles, held down a high-hours job in college, is a URM who overcame serious obstacles, and did a prestigious job like Delloit consulting, Junior Ambassador, TFA, or something.

2 obviously wins out SO MANY other people with similar, and even higher stats.

Yeah, got it. My post was a combination of facetiousness and realism. I think leaving it to the sharks allows some level of the latter.

Hmm, great book, but i'm not sure being a loser sex addict that tricks other people into giving him money by making himself choke and allowing other people to save him is a good soft. Although, you know I guess you could write about how you have had a near death experience and when your life flashed before your eyes you saw yourself in a Yale law sweater while getting a call from the a president saying your being nominated for the supreme court.
