Many PD offices actually pay a bit more than that, probably closer to $50K. Even if the PD office nearby is only paying $35-40K, what do you think most of the jobs for a fresh law grad pay?

Before the recession hit, if you were a relatively average student, even at a school "that has a good local rep" you would be very lucky to land a job at a small firm that pays $40K w/benefits.

Most law students don't realize that until sometime during 3L year or after graduation.
