Learn to quit reading?

I apologize for the stupid title but I hoped to draw people in.
I’ve heard from several people currently in and recently out of law school that one of the worst habits you can have in law school is pleasure reading. The reasoning is that you will do so much reading for law school that you will only exhaust your ability to concentrate with pleasure reading. As one friend said, in a sense pleasure reading in law school is a masturbatory activity
Any thoughts on if this is truly the case?
If so I’d like to know now because this is going to be a process akin to quitting smoking for me.
