Is it a bad idea to email Ad Com's when apps are already out to express how much interest you have in a specific school?

If your app has been out for a while and you haven't got a decision yet, then I can't see any harm in emailing an adcomm and letting them know that you're still hanging in there.

Define awhile. Alot of people have sent out an admission in November/December and have not heard back from schools. But schools like ASU I've been reading on here are very very slow to give you a decision. I plan on sending an e-mail to a few schools that wait listed me next week to tell them I'm still interested and what I've been doing since I sent them my application. I think it depends on the school, might want to check the admission forums and look at the threads for the schools you are concerned about to see what results others have had.

In this case one needs to use their own judgment when defining 'a while'.

For example, I'm a reverse splitter for Duke. Went complete in early November and still haven't heard from them. Thus last week I emailed them a letter of continued interest, which they added to my file.
