Am I the only one getting impatient on waiting for these "finalized" sections and schedules? I just want to know what classes I'm taking so I can order my books.

If you haven't learned it after admissions then you'll learn it now. Law school and everything related to law school is just a big waiting game and a test of your patience. Wait for LSAT score, wait for admissions, wait for scholarships, wait for section assignment, wait for grades, wait for interviews, wait for callbacks, wait for offers, wait for bar results. Get used to it, friends. (it actually does get easier... because you'll learn to care less)

I think the boredom from not working anymore is not just making me desperate for some action. Now I know how my dad feels as a retiree.

I felt the same way when I quit my job, moved, and was waiting for school to start. Now I'm a hollow shell of a human waiting for bar results. Enjoy first semester of 1L when the only thing in your life is class. That doesn't even last into Spring 1L because of job stuff, but Fall 1L was nice to have tunnel vision.

Lol. I got put in section 4 again. Different society though - Sutton. Cool thing is I get out early, real early apparently. All my days start at 9:10, but I only have 1 day where I get out after 1pm. Maybe I'll hit the gym after class instead of before now.

Edit: I actually only have two days where I get out of class after 11:37am. I get out at 12:57 one day and at 2:07 the other day. I get to watch the champions league now

Idk if Cannibal Ox can shed some light on this, but should we buy the books with access codes new? Do the professors want us to use the digital casebooks?

I'm looking at a rough estimate of $1100-$1200 to purchase new versions for all the required books.

How are you finding the books you need to buy? I clicked on my professor, then courses, then the class I'm in and two of my four have books listed but two of the books listed I can't find on amazon or the co-op that it links to. I rented two already from Amazon though for about $55 each and the co-op had them listed for about $250 used each. No way I'm paying that.

Also, my criminal law prof asks us to have the 2017-2019 Texas penal code, and Amazon only offers it as a kindle version. Anyone know if there will be any downfalls to doing that, or should I just pay $25 to get the hard copy?

I checked Amazon and campusbooks.com. It's a site that compares prices from multiple websites. There is one book that's not on Amazon that I found on there. I haven't checked the co-op yet.

I'm just hoping the access codes aren't a ridiculous price if we buy a used book or rent it.

I learned the hard way buying a kindle book for a class. You don't get the same page numbers as a physical copy, which can make it real difficult to follow along or in my case, make citations for my senior paper. Some publishers might have an index or something that shows what the kindle page is in the physical book.

If it's just the penal code, you may not need page numbers. That said, if your exam is open book/open notes, you will not be permitted to take your Kindle into the exam.

I'm not sure what an access code book is. Is it a book that has an online component? I've had those and the prof never uses anything but the physical textbook because lol professors.

My first semester I bought everything new and it cost like $800, but I wanted to know if I was the type of person who would highlight or underline or take margin notes and I didn't want preexisting stuff in books to throw me off. Turns out I'm a barely-read-the-casebook type person and I never spent more than like $250 any semester after that.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
