BOSTON UNIVERSITY LAW CLASS OF 2019

Class of 2018 Stats:

LSAT 25th%: 160
LSAT 50th%: 163
LSAT 75th%: 164

GPA 25th%: 3.41
GPA 50th%: 3.67
GPA 75th%: 3.75

Number of Applications in 2018: 4,263
Entering Class Size: 236

Didn't see anyone else creating an admitted students thread so I decided to start one up, in my haze of panic that I will probably have to find a roommate. Forgive my lack of pretty pictures.
Bad news: I'm really bad with technology and can't make a cool front post.
Good news: WE'RE ADMITTED :D

Not 100% sure if I'll be attending yet but I live in Boston and can see the law building from my office so I'm happy to answer general area questions.

Is it as horribly ugly in person as it looks online? Does the inside make up for it?

Inside is amazing. It's all modern and looks stellar. They just renovated the whole school last year. Outlets everywhere, new fixtures, modern seating, new carpet, fresh paint, etc.

The outside of the tower is of course looks like a brutalist lawyer factory in the winter with its glorious smoke stack.

In case you guys are not familiar, they also just finished attaching the new Redstone building to the tower.

Here are some good pictures of the building: http://www.bu.edu/today/2014/new-at-law ... -and-more/

Went to BU for undergrad (Class of 2015), still live relatively close to campus and work downtown. Happy to answer any questions about the school/campus, life in Boston, etc. Congratulations to all!

I'm going to be in Boston for 48hrs for ASW on April 1st. What are your top "must do's"? Things to see, places to eat, bars to visit?

Totally second that. There is a lot of natural light and it is very open/modern.

How familiar are you with Boston? I find people from New England have a lot more knowledge about Boston than out of staters.

Fanieul Hall is quintessential Boston. The mall around it is cool and there's plenty of sites along the way from Park Street Station. Also, I'd recommend going to Copley Square/Back Bay. Nice area, find something on yelp you might like. Maybe Harvard Square in Cambridge. Not sure what you like so it's hard to recommend something exactly. PM me with your specific interests and I can direct you somewhere.

If at all possible, I'd recommend trying to get tickets for a Sox game - Fenway is brilliant on a weekend afternoon. If not - take a stroll all the way down Newbury St, have lunch outside, people watch, relax, make your way down to the Public Garden and Boston Common. From there, you're a short walk from Faneuil Hall, which, although a bit of a tourist trap, is worth a visit or two. If you're still energized enough to keep walking, Boston's North End (our Little Italy) is a short walk from Faneuil. Great little side streets, independent cafes/bakeries, restaurants, and tons of history there.

So, BU will jump from #26 to #20 in the usnwr ranking, according to several posts.

accepted Jan 7 and still haven't heard a word about scholarship, whether it be merit or need. starting to get really antsy, with BU and one other school being my top two choices. i've narrowed it down, but the other school gave me 120k. BU is looking less and less realistic, even though i think i would rather be in boston

Coming out of my long-term lurking to say hi to everyone! I desperately hope to be in Boston in the fall. Anybody going to admitted students' day this Friday?

Just an update for everyone! I inquired about a scholarship increase about a month ago, and I just got an email from financial aid saying that they were unable to increase what I had. I'm really not surprised, given the recent increase in rank and having already gotten 25k/yr with a 163/3.9. It was a long shot, but at least I tried! I hope it goes better for you guys.

Anyone have any idea what BUs OCI success rate was last cycle?

I know LSN shows the biglaw/fed clerk %, but I'm trying to look closer and see what % of students who actually participated in OCI got offers. I'm considering BU and a couple of T10s, and I'm worried that the difference in success rate may make the T10 vs. t20 separation more striking/worrisome than the difference in biglaw/clerking.

Thanks in advance!

smithk wrote:Is anyone attending a preview day and using the travel stipend? The admitted students website said to email a specific person and request a stipend, since they are limited (which I have done, but haven't heard back). But in the admissions packet was a little card saying email the general admissions email and just let them know you'd be using the stipend you were offered. Should I email that address as well?

Trying to avoid over-emailing since I know this is a busy time, but also don't want to accidentally pass up $300 since I'm coming from pretty far!
I'm going to follow the instructions on the card from the admission packet. The website info might be for those that did not receive a card.
