When the word "grant" is used, is that need-based, or merit aid?
Need-based.
I'm not sure what is good but I got <50k which was totally not expected....That is pretty much a year's worth of tuition.
I don't get how I got zero assistance at UVA and then this at Penn. Such a shocker but very very much appreciated since Penn is currently number one.
I feel like we have had (almost) the same cycle.
Also, does Penn consider Duke a peer institution for negotiation purposes?

For those who have receive financial aid emails, did your status checker change to "financial aid email sent," or is it the same?

I took me just 4 days after i finished my need access form. but they said they would make decisions on need based from march 1st - mid/ late march when I was on campus a month ago.

An FYI for anybody waiting on merit scholarship awards:
Opened my inbox early today and found I've been awarded a Wilson scholarship. I'm extremely surprised considering I was never invited to apply/asked to write an essay for consideration. I'd almost think it was a mistake if it wasn't directly addressed to me...

Do you think $150K offer from Mich would offer me any leverage in negotiating with Penn, given the fact that I currently live in Philly?
Could make a case about cost of living difference?

Has anyone applying for merit aid only heard anything yet? When do you think would be an appropriate time to email them assuming I'm getting 0 to try to negotiate?

Can I ask when you were admitted? And when you submitted FAFSA/NeedAccess? Thank you!

I'm only eligible for merit (I didn't submit the need access form), and I haven't heard anything yet. I was admitted on 12/14. Financial aid said they send out notifications on a rolling basis from now until May 1st, the deadline deposit.
