I'm leading 3 orgs, one of them is our PAD chapter. Now that my wedding finally happened, I'm less stressed. Still stressed, just less so.
I'm also going to be applying for a 2017 Boren Fellowship.

Doing moot court, journal, and working part time while taking 3 doctrinals was the worst decision of my life. I miss 1L free time.

I work full time (plus always on call), have a wife and daughter, going to school part-time (4 courses for 11 credit hours this term), and working my way through a civil suit as a pro se defendant (which has gone on for over a year, in effort to delay the hearings for the motions to dismiss, plaintiff has filled bankruptcy requesting a stay, removed case from state to federal court and after both eventually failed has filled three appeals all of this in a state ~400 miles from where I live)...Dr. Nefario wrote:Doing moot court, journal, and working part time while taking 3 doctrinals was the worst decision of my life. I still do not think I would want to switch schedules with you.

How you balance all that with a wife and daughter is beyond me. I barely have time to balance the wife. Props to you dude. Seriously.

ETA: that appeal is ridiculous at this point. Maybe one day you'll be in a casebook In re Hand

Sorry for being nosy, but roughly how much are you getting paid/what sort of job did you get? Trying to figure out if it's worth it to look for something during the school year.zhenders wrote:Dying here too. Journal, moot, 20-30hrs job, 15 hours clinic, 3 student org boards, then classes.

Hikko, LSAT teaching; I did it before school, and just kept doing it. I taught in 1L and that went fine, which is why I kept doing it; the problem is, 1L, they tell you exactly how much you're allowed to bite off and chew. 2L, they're like, "you wanna be a fool? Aight."
I do think most people could work at least a bit through law school without issue; how much is up to the individual for sure.

I generally log anywhere from 5 to 15 hrs/ week. And have several jobs that pay between $10/hr (babysitting) and $25/hr (patent agent stuff). And then sometimes I work gigs. Part-time big specialty firm work. $25/hr. 20 hour a week minimum. Never take work home, never hear from work outside the hours I'm there. It's nice to have it in a vacuum, but some nights I do end up there past when I was supposed to leave and I tend to be in the office at 7 am when I go in the morning.IsThisForReal wrote:I generally log anywhere from 5 to 15 hrs/ week. I check back in after many weeks (months even?) and the schadenfreude is strong. Glad everyone else is suffering as horribly as I am. Maybe its empathy, but I'm not sure what emotions are anymore.
Some 2Ls told me that doing journal basically ruins your life. I have found this to be true. This would be the most awesome semester ever if it wasn't for extracurricular stuff. See y'all in another 6 weeks after this clusterf of a semester is over.

This is so true. I haven't done any reading in over a month now, the only obligations I have are journal and an org I for some stupid reason volunteered to be on the board of.unsweetened wrote:Some 2Ls told me that doing journal basically ruins your life. I'm going full-blown shitlib in the spring with Civil Rights, Constitutional Law II, Employment Discrimination, a seminar on Poverty Law and Policy, and externing at a shitlib org.MurdockLLP wrote:Why are you doing this to yourself?RCSOB657 wrote:Registering for next semester's classes. Re: Don't ask, don't 2L
Kind of have to. My program is 108 hrs. Granted I only have to take 15 hours in the actual Spring term, but the schedule of available courses is not ideal for me. I will be taking the UBE and the GA Bar, and those are all bar courses I'll need for both. I might get a reprieve next year if I do get the Boren.MurdockLLP wrote:Why are you doing this to yourself?RCSOB657 wrote:Registering for next semester's classes.
