I think she's going to run into trouble as who in their right mind would want to leave CA after being there for 3 years?

RUNNNNNNN!!!! Seriously, east coast weather is so miserable, hence why I didn't apply to any cold schools.

If USC over-enrolls this year, I blame us.

So I am life-and-death to make a decision at this point. I was wondering where everyone else had to decide between, if you don't mind sharing what your other top choice was, how much they offered in scholarship, and then why you chose USC. For me, I can't see making this decision on weather, so that won't be convincing for me, just an FYI.

Where do you want to work and what are your other options?

+1
Though I can understand how some of our decisions might be helpful through comparison, your specific information would probably be most helpful if looking for advice. There are quite a few factors to compare between any two people e.g. COA, career goals, geographic preference, weather, family, etc. (as you may well already know) which might make it difficult to draw any meaningful conclusion for your decision.

That being said, I'll happily pm you if it helps. Good luck!

wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if they over-enroll, or is it?

Hard to place students if they're unaccustomed to that amount. Lower class sizes generally helps employment numbers for the school.

More competition (jk as USC it's more friends), less scholarship funds, teacher:student ratio, same number of OCI spots, clinic spots, etc despite having more people.

So this is me:

I had a max that I would be willing to pay for a JD from USC, and determined that it was around $100k in CoA.***
*** This CoA is not (Total tuition - scholarship). Instead it included interests (Stafford Loan at 6.21% and PLUS at 7.21%, this information is included in the folder that they gave us on Law Day, and the interest will add up fast, so watch out), loan origination fees, projected tuition hikes, travel expenses for interviewing, bar loans, apartment, food, books, health insurance, and etc. I also have a UG loan, just accumulating interest right now. ETA: The only thing that I didn't include in my CoA figure was my UG loan, and I can say that I have more than average than most people on TLS. Thus, my desperate need to get my LS CoA down.

Some people are willing to risk more, as suggested by a 3L here, viewtopic.php?f=4&t=246349. But if you take on more and more, the amount of risk becomes huge.

I was debating between two schools for the last month or so. They had virtually similar outcomes. Both were in the regions that I would see no trouble with settling down. Both were ranked similar. I had family members in both cities. I loved both schools. Both had fantastic faculty and students. Both gave me virtually similar scholarship amount--until I got shot down at this another school, but USC increased my offer.

So, it was money. 100% money.

Also, I asked myself that would I be okay with a $60k/yr job in LA? The answer was a yes.

I don't think it was a stupid question. Good to have these discussions about what a small class size can do for us.

No stupid questions here. I wondered the same thing before. I really think USC is gunning to climb up the rankings ladder this year and will have a class size that allows an increase in their stats.

Yeah I get the feeling they're aiming for #18 again
