Hey all, I could really use some advice. If anyone feels like they have an especially good idea of how to strategize negotiating for scholarships and what to expect from USC's Financial Aid, I could really use a second opinion. I already tried negotiating once and was shot down, but, like some of you have already brought up, maybe that can change this month with more withdraws freeing up more money? I dunno.

PM me for my details and I'd be happy to provide them if that helps.

Aside from that, a big congratulations to all those already admitted!

I don't understand why there is no asterisk mark in the yellow box next to "Class of 2014." An asterisk denotes Employment Statistics 9 months after graduation.

Anybody has ideas on its absence?
---
Also, I really, really hope they get their class size down to 170-175.
---
If someone is attending session #1C, would you mind asking how they managed to double the #s for those taking gov't jobs? Thanks.

I read that 2014 employment stats were taken from a ten month period for whatever reason http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... 2&t=245859

Hey guys been a long time lurker of this thread, but I just got an unsolicited scholarship increase from 120 to 135 from Mary Bingham. Definitely makes it an attractive option because ucla was going to be cheaper with my need aid, but now it won't be.

Also will be going to law day and hopefully will see some of you there.

I think we just beat UCLA's biglaw+fed by 1% haha.

Scooped--
USC: BL+FC 41% / FTLTBR 79% / FTLTBR - LSF 65%
UCLA: BL+FC 40% / FTLTBR 80% - FTLTBR - LSF 71%

Virtually identical.
Difference in small class sizes, the Trojan network (lol I'm biased)

Hi everyone - I have been lurking for sometime now. Anyway, I have submitted my deposit to USC to take advantage of the 2k bonus, and am 99.99% going to be attending.
I am a reverse splitter, so I have been offered a pretty good scholarship already. In mid-March, I was shot down for a request to bump it up. I am trying to see what I can do to have the scholarship bumped up, even if only nominally. Could those in the know pm me about USC's current scholarship/negotiation philosophy? It would be much appreciated
Safe travels to everyone. I wish I could be at the ASW!

I'm on the same boat as you. Trying to figure out any way I could potentially get a little more money.

Welcome to the thread btw :D

If they already said no, and that was before you deposited, then I don't think you'll have much luck. You lost a lot of leverage.

That said, if you're gonna try, you might find more success after the April 15 scholarship reservation date, since surely some non-matriculants will opt out and some more money might be on the table for you.

Sounds like a lot of us are on the same page with scholarships.

Congrats, mec! That's exciting news.

Was thinking pretty similarly, but hopefully mec's case is a positive sign for increases (especially if done after the reservation date and with the right story).

Here's to hoping.

I'm going to speculate that after the reminder email to reserve schollys and the 2k incentive email a large number of admits with very high scores withdrew after depositing at T14s, and/or a large number of applicants at or below medians deposited. Meaning, they have people paying a good portion of their own tuition and or a bunch of high scholarships just went back into the pot. So now they're reevaluating.
