Re: USC (Gould) c/o 2018
New poll. Am very interested in the results.
---
Also, in the last poll, we had a baby in the thread. Aww I remember those moments when I was under 21.
Also, we had an applicant older than mec, yay, thank you, you made me feel less old. <3

Re: USC (Gould) c/o 2018
Really sad to hear about the visiting student passing away. Will weigh in to say that in case anyone's worried about school reputation, the "party school" stigma pretty much dissolves as soon as you're past undergrad, at least within CA. The undergrad parties at USC are wildly different from the grad scene (at least they were while I was there) and although the dental school seems to go pretty hard, most of the graduate/law students on campus that I know are more... subtle with their antics.LawsRUs wrote:I'm in class until 9pm today, so I can't elaborate, but I think there is more in implications of that article. It plays on the idea of the "honor student" at a "party school." (I also think that the media is aware of this idea selling, so it's not just that they are not thinking critically.)
ETA: But good to know we have good parties here.
Also, has anyone been successful at negotiating with T-14 schollies in play? The more I think about it, the more I realize that my long term goal is to be in California so I'm wondering how to approach USC's financial aid and let them know their offer really isn't enough without sounding like a douche. Thanks!

Hi @gap !!mindthegap wrote:Also, has anyone been successful at negotiating with T-14 schollies in play?!
For me, I made the biggest mistake this cycle of not applying to T14s. I might have gotten into some lower T14s had I applied, but I thought that there was no way that I would pay sticker (or close to it) at these schools, so I didn't end up applying. Soo stupid, I regret this. They would have been good leverage. If you are successful however, pls come back to us and share with us because--
I might consider sitting out this cycle, and applying next September. .

(mec did a random post about Comcast, so I'm gonna do one too)
o my gosh, it's 4:30 am, I have a presentation tomorrow afternoon, and I haven't started making my Powerpoint slides. I'm effed.
Yay for insomnia because it goes so well with procrastination
I'm really pushing this thing with working under deadlines
eta: Also, I'll be MIA from TLS for a few days.

What did you use?NoBladesNoBows wrote:Was able to negotiate a bit of a bump, but I was definitely hoping for more :-/
Oh well, let's see how Law Day goes and then maybe I'll be able to make a decision.
I felt like I made a really strong case for a bump in $$ based on a lower offer from Vandy, but now I wonder if they will only match or bump for higher dollar amounts.
